A nice early bakelite adding machine, Made in Denmark during the late 1950's, good solid bakelite body. This
particular model was made for the British market and is pre decimal. Calculates in Pounds, Shillings and pence ... 12d to
the shilling, 20s to the pound !!! ... when we had real money !!!
Quite compact for it's day this model measures 8 inches x 8 inches with a height of 2 1/2 inches.
Contex was the brand name chosen by the Carlsen Brothers who came from Denmark and had developed these unique
half keyboard, key driven mechanical adding machines.
Contex also made various versions for the USA market which appeared under the name Bohn Contex.
